AGRICAMPING SOPHIA
Who are we? We are a group of musicians, educators and "philosophers" who have decided to roll up their sleeves and come up with a way not to leave their land ...just going back to the land. Leveraging on our proud scouts and peasant roots, we set up a specialized camp site, for tents only,in one of the most enchanting places in Sicily. However, if you do not want to give up too many comforts, we also have a "village" area dedicated to wooden bungalows, mobile homes and glamping tents.
Where are we? Between Marzamemi and Pachino, in the municipality of Noto, close to the Vendicari Reserve and the sandy beaches of San Lorenzo, a strategic area to easily visit the south-eastern Sicily, especially the Baroque and archaeological areas of Noto, Scicli, Modica, Ragusa, Syracuse, Palazzolo Acreide, Ispica and Rosolini. We are also a few kilometers from Portopalo di Capo Passero and from the caribbean beaches on the Mediterranean such as Carratois, Costa dell'Ambra and Granelli.
Where to eat? In addition to the numerous farmhouses and restaurants that the area offers, personally tested for you (you understand the sacrifice...), which we will indicate to you from time to time in relation to your culinary desires, you cannot miss try our
brioches stuffed with ricotta for breakfast and our
focaccias for dinner! To find out more, click on
ristorazione! From the campsite it is also possible to directly access the adjacent
Vini Sultana, to be pampered by its tasting itineraries to the sound of wine and typical local products.
Where to shop? Within a few kilometers there are at least three supermarkets, various farms that sell their excellent fruit and vegetables and in Portopalo di Capo Passero you'll find a thriving fish market.
In any case, if you are looking for a typical tourist village, with group dances and aperitif games, unfortunately we are not for you. And
we don't have a swimming pool because, given that you can also find plenty of swimming pools in Milan or Turin, we would like you to come here to Sicily for our beaches and our sea. However, if you prefer to travel fifteen hundred kilometers to throw yourself into the pool, still send us an email and we will try to advise you as best we can ;)
MUSIC
We are all music enthusiasts and some of us are amateur musicians. The background music we play at our kiosk/focacceria is always the result of our selection, no random radios, summer hits or cold superfamous stuff.
Sometimes, in the evening we set up the instruments and play something ourselves, with the primary aim of involving you and passing the instruments to you, for a refreshing summer Jam Session!
Every now and then it can happen that some musician friend comes to visit us and delights us with their art for a few evenings! Stay tuned…
READ CAREFULLY! It's sad to keep saying it after years and years, but here we do waste separation and recycling and we do it the proper way. If your civic sense stays at home while you're on holiday, keep looking... We're probably not the right choice for you.

CART RUTS MODELED ON SOFT ROCK?
Read also RACK OR HOUSING FOR CLOGS?
Some cart ruts from the Targia district, in Syracuse, and most of the cart ruts from Granatari Vecchi, in Rosolini, give the impression of having been impressed, modelled, on a rock that was originally viscous, not entirely solid. As absurd as this hypothesis may seem, especially in Granatari Vecchi, the softness of the shapes and the at least anomalous uniformity of the rock bank, as if it were a concrete casting, which hosts the cart ruts, is unicum compared to the lithic context in the area.
In Targia this phenomenon is less impressive but if we consider the cart ruts essentially cart tracks, therefore furrowed roads indirectly resulting from the repeated passage of carts along the same route, we do not understand why such uniformity and smoothness is present, in the majority of cases, also on the parts not affected by the passage of the wheels, that is, between the two furrows and along the edges.
An explanation for such softness of shapes...
